This happened a few weeks ago, but as the assistant for the PA system, I feel obligated to explain the whole situation.
Basically, I was the one helming the PA that night, the head was doing the videos instead.
The problem did indeed sparked when the plug went off. Someone kicked it. Let it be known that it was no one's fault, we were all siting there watching the performance, very far away from that bunch of wires. We were using the head's laptop, and he did not put batteries in, that was were we went wrong.
Batteries, had there been batteries, the laptop would still be running. (Previously we were divided over who's laptop to use for the PA, mine had batteries, but in the end, we went on with using his, mine for the videos instead)
After that, I was very pissed, swore like I never swore before and walked off. The head took over, he just arrived there and probably wasn't sure which song was which. My fault. Shouldn't have been such a pussy head and walked off. That's why you experienced them putting the wrong song.
I think the reason why Li Shawn insisted that we do not tell the audience we had a technical problem is because it would mean that our RM1800 PA is super noob, yes, we had to save some face.
I apologize once again on behalf of the PA department and the whole of 9th PJ, yes, we screwed up. You should have seen the mood after the campfire, it was dead gloomy.
Let's just hope this never happens again.
